3.2.1 Complete a simple grahpic organizer to group ideas for writing (e.g., webbing).
3.2.14 Identify the most reliable source of information for preparing a report.

Instructional Objectives: Students will create and present a PowerPoint to show how the natural resources are turned into a finished product.

Before Class Preparation: Teacher must work with groups to be sure they are prepared to present their PowerPoint presentations.

Students will practice presenting their PowerPoints in their collaborative groups. To complete this assignment, students will work in groups of three or four students. Due to the fact that students will be using reading and comprehension skills, the groups will be heterogeneous based on reading levels. An advanced reader, an on-level reader, and a strategic intervention reader will be in each group and research the places in which the natural resources are found. By working in these collaborative groups, students can have the assistance of their peers while participating in an engaging lesson.

Students will present their PowerPoint presentations to the class.

Students must write a paragraph explaining what they have learned by participating in this project and complete the self-reflection.

Ongoing Assessments: Teacher will monitor student work, and ask questions to ensure learning and on-task work.

Accomodations and Extentions: Teacher(s) will offer extra support of PowerPoint use.

Back-Up Plan: If computers are not working, we must put the presentations to the next day so the groups can present their hard work.


Lesson Reflections and Notes: A rubric will be used to score the PowerPoint and collaborative work.
